What we don't want to be
by Pastor Mike Johnson
1/27/08 - Sunday PM
Hosea 1:2
Hosea 7:1-16 , with an emphasis on verse 8
I didn't catch an actual title for the message, so I just put what the general consenus is for this message.
The main focus of this message was to not be like Ephraim - half-baked bread. When the bread was cooked correctly, it was nice and brown; good to eat. Before it was baked, it was soft and pliable, easy to form and reform. When it was half-baked, there wasn't much of anything that could be done with it.
II Timothy 3:16-17

Philippians 1:6
1. The Power of Prayer Joshua 9:14
John 11:22 , John 14:14 , Matthew 21:22 , Matthew 7:7 , Philippians 4:6 , James 4:2-3
2. The Presence of Peers Psalm 1:1-2

Draw Nigh to God
by Bro. McIntire
1/27/08 - Sunday School
James 4:4-10
From what I gathered, this was a continuation from the week before, which I was not at. There really didn't seem to be an outline, but there were several verses referenced. He used a great analogy for us drawing nigh to God - the Parable of the Prodigal Son. With the son being us, and the father being God, if we go to Him, He will come to meet us.
I John 1:6-10
Isaiah 59:1-2
Psalm 66:18
Hosea 5:6
Acts 3:18-19
Hebrews 11:6
Psalm 73:24-25, 28
Hebrews 13:5
Exodus 33 - God removed Himself from the Israelites because of their murmurings
What do you expect from God?

Accountable
That is what we are.
I take notes during the services I attend for a reason or two. 1)Because when you hear and write, it stays in memory better; 2) you can always look back at what you've written. However, that second one comes with a twist: it only works if you keep track of your notes! I've had notebooks, fliers, anything I can write on just about, but something always seems to be happening to them. So I figured I would put my sermon notes on here. Obviously, I will first be writing them as it's not very practical to bring the desktop to church service and be continually typing. But then I will come home and post what I have written on here, so that I can be able to review them and maybe someone else will be able to get some use out of it as well. They will not always be in the same order, and sometimes, like during verse changes and flipping through to find it, I may miss a word or two, but they will be as complete as I can possibly get.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
